Threats Against Rev. Akil Pano Raise Concerns for Religious Freedom in Albania

The Interfaith Cooperation Center Elbasan expresses its institutional support for the Albanian Pro Life and Family Coalition and for Pastor Akil Pano, regarding the recent attacks and denigrating language made public in the media and on social networks.

As a center committed to interfaith dialogue and harmony, we express deep concern about the incitement of hate speech toward a representative of the clergy and an institution that defends the fundamental values of family, life, and freedom of belief. Any form of threat or public defamation against clergy members constitutes a violation of democratic principles and fundamental human rights.

We call on the responsible institutions to seriously monitor the situation and to ensure the protection standards of dignity and freedom of expression for religious representatives in the country.
