Court Rejects Protection Order Request Against Albanian Pro Life & Family Coalition Leaders

Tirana, Albania — A court in Albania has rejected a request for a protection order filed against Rev. Akil Pano, founder of the Albanian Pro Life & Family Coalition, and Jonathan Pano, following a social media post related to a photograph from a Pride event.

The legal complaint was submitted in late May by the mother of two children who appeared in the publicly available photograph. The image had previously been published by Albanian media and shared by public officials, including European Union Ambassador to Albania Silvio Gonzato and Deputy Prime Minister Albana Kociu.

Rev. Akil Pano subsequently reposted the photograph and raised concerns about the presence of minors at events involving political or ideological messaging, emphasizing the responsibility of society to protect children.

The court reviewed the request and rejected the application, concluding that the legal conditions required for issuing a protection order had not been met.

The case comes amid ongoing public debate in Albania over parental rights, children, family policy, and gender-related issues following the adoption of the Gender Equality Law in November 2025.

According to the Albanian Pro Life & Family Coalition, this is the fifth legal case involving Rev. Akil Pano in recent years related to his public advocacy on issues of faith, family, and parental rights. The Coalition states that the courts have ruled in his favor in each case.
