Free Travel Between Albania and Kosovo

The governments of Albania and Kosovo have reinstated a no‑border‑check regime, allowing citizens of both countries to travel freely across their shared border from 1 November 2025 through 28 February 2026. This measure covers multiple border crossings, including Morinë–Vërmicë, Qafë Prush, Shishtavec, Borje, and Orgjost, and aims to reduce traffic congestion, facilitate local commuting, and strengthen regional integration.

Under the agreement, citizens travelling in vehicles with Albanian or Kosovar license plates are no longer subject to passport or ID checks at the border during the covered period. The measure is intended to encourage tourism, cross‑border family visits, and business connectivity, while continuing cooperation between border agencies to maintain security and smooth transit. Residents in border‑strip villages also benefit from facilitated crossings to ease local movement.

Authorities emphasize that travellers should carry proper identification and be aware that the relaxed checks apply only to citizens and vehicles registered in Albania or Kosovo. The initiative reflects both countries’ commitment to closer bilateral ties and regional integration, making travel faster and more convenient for thousands of citizens over the winter period.
